About the site and its author

I’m an independent jurist and I’ve been writing online about constitutional reform and jurisprudence for twenty-five years or so — initially in Usenet forums and email groups, and more recently on my own Wordpress blog, T’Reasonable Man, and on a website for a (stillborn) constitutional reform party, Local Sovereignty, that I tried to start after the Brexit vote.

My Wordpress sites never attracted much attention and, in early 2023, I was feeling that it wasn’t worth writing more on jurisprudence. So I started writing posts on more philosophical/metaphysical themes. Those posts didn’t fit in on my T’Reasonable Man site, though, so I moved them to a substack site (Beyond Reason). Finding that the substack platform feels more congenial, I decided to bring my old jurisprudence posts here — and found, to my surprise, that I had more to write on the subject.

As for the more personal stuff, my name is Malcolm Ramsay and I was born on the 19th of November 1956 in Eastbourne, England. I live in rural Lincolnshire with my wife and two aging black cats where we have been trying (somewhat precariously) to establish a low-impact lifestyle outside the mainstream economy. Unfortunately, we constantly find our time and energy getting diverted into other avenues, with the result that what we’d thought would become a permaculture smallholding is gradually becoming a wildlife sanctuary instead.
